California's 23rd Senate District
Senator Mike Morrell was born and raised in California. He was married here, raised his family here, and opened two corporations here, Provident Home Loans and Provident Realty, both incorporated in 1989. Senator Morrell was first elected in 2010 and now represents California’s 23rd State Senate District. He has served on a number of policy committees including:

Senator Morrell regularly receives high marks from the California Chamber of Commerce and the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. He has been named Legislator of the Year by the Military Officers Association of America, the California Young Republican Federation, WeTip Anonymous Crime Reporting Hotline, and the California Association of Collectors, Inc. Additionally, Senator Morrell has been recognized as the AmPac Connecting Faith & Business Community Leader of the Year, a National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Guardian of Small Business, and received awards from the California Senior Legislature and the California Association of Licensed Investigators. He also holds the highest lifetime vote rating from the American Conservative Union. He has consistently lent his time and talents to the community. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Building Industry Association and the Board of the Rancho Cucamonga YMCA, as well as the Advisory Board for the Gary Anderson School of Business at UC Riverside. He was a key member of the Inland Empire Economic Partnership and the Legislative Committee for the Citrus Valley Association of Realtors. Senator Morrell co-founded the Inland Empire Prayer Breakfast, contributed to Inland Empire leadership for the City of Hope, and acts on the Advisory Board to the Pacific Justice Institute. He is proud to support Hillsdale College through the Parents Board, as well as the Claremont Institute President’s Club. Prior to his term in public office, Senator Morrell was an active member of the California Republican Assembly. He also served on the Business Advisory Boards for State Senator Bill Leonard and Assemblyman Fred Aguiar and on the Small Business Council for Assemblyman Bill Emmerson. Senator Morrell and his wife, Joanie, have three adult children. Their daughter Kristen’s first priority is her family. She also teaches on American Exceptionalism at Arizona Christian University.

Their oldest son, David, previously served in the White House as Special Assistant and Associate Counsel to the President and most recently as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Matthew, their youngest, works as an operations manager for a commercial development company in Arlington, Virginia.
